Where would you launch your car if its top speed exceeds the take-off speed of any aircraft? Naturally the airfield, and that’s exactly what Lamborghini did when they launched the latest Aventador LP700-4 Roadster in the USA on 28 January.
A total of 50 topless Aventadors cruised down Collins Avenue before making a grand entrance at the Miami International Airport. Once there, five of the Roadsters rockets down the runway and eventually hit a top speed of 338km/h (210mph), which easily exceeds the 240-290km/h (150-180mph) take-off speed of a commercial aircraft.
“It has been great pleasure to work with the Miami-Dade Aviation Department and South Beach teams on today’s amazing demonstration”, said Lamborghini CEO, Stephane Winkelmann.
“I have never seen something similar at a Lamborghini event. The Aventador Roadster is our most exciting production car ever and I can think of no better place to celebrate its launch than here in Miami”.
For those of us who can’t afford the $750,000 ask for the Aventador (the Roadster is likely to cost even more), check out the launch video below.
