Tesla Model 3 and Model Y sharpened with KW lowering suspension

The Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y are two of the most popular EVs today. The performance variants of both models are also some of the fastest vehicles around, not just in the EV segment but overall. With a 0-100km/h sprint time of around 3 seconds, they rival even the world’s fastest supercars – in straight line acceleration at least.

Perhaps a little tightening of handling is all the Model 3 and Model Y need to match that explosive acceleration. German chassis expert KW Suspension have just the solution for it. Designed as a “plug and play” suspension upgrade for the Model 3 Performance and Model Y Performance, the KW adjustable coilover kit will lower the ride height of both vehicles from anywhere between 25mm and 50mm, giving the sports EVs a taut and hunkered down look.

As the Model 3 Performance and Model Y Performance come fitted with electronically controlled adaptive dampers from the factory, the KW lowering suspension kit is designed to be fully compatible with the factory damper controls. In other words, the on-board electronics will immediately recognise the KW coilover suspension and take over control. Once fitted, the adaptive dampers will react to the control signals in real time and adjust the handling to the driving situation, just like how the factory dampers previously would.

The Model 3 shown here is fitted with BBS CI R Unlimited lightweight alloy wheels, measuring 9×21 inches at the front and 10×21 inches at the rear. They are in wrapped in Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric tyres measuring 245 30R21 and 295 25R21 respectively at the front and rear.

Meanwhile, the Tesla Model Y runs on the two-piece BBS CH R II Unlimited. On the driver’s side, the wheel centre is finished in high gloss black, combined with a titanium matte outer barrel. On the passenger side, the wheel centre is painted in Racing Gold, while the outer barrel features a matte black finish. The two piece CH R II wheel is mounted in a 9.5 x 21 inch specification and paired with Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric tyre measuring 255 35R21 all around.
