Volkswagen Golf R Mk8 sharpened with KW coilover suspension kit

The Volkswagen Golf R is already an excellent package straight out of the factory. With power output from the uprated 2.0-litre turbocharged engine now reaching 245kW and 450Nm, the hot hatch is capable of dashing to 100km/h from standstill in just 4.6 seconds.

While the car’s dynamics have been sharpened through revised suspension geometry and more rigid components, setting the car up for track still demands a good set of aftermarket adjustable coilover suspension.

KW Suspension has been in the game for a while and knows what it takes to make a good track set up. The XTA Plus 3 coilover suspension kit from its enthusiast sub-brand, ST Suspension is designed to extract the maximum potential from the Golf R both on racetracks and on the street. Developed at the Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit, the new coilovers include three-way adjustable multi-valve dampers, linear racing springs, uniball front axle top mounts, and the ability to adjust ride height steplessly.

The kit, which is available for almost all VW Golf 8 models, including facelift versions and the Golf GTI, Golf GTI Clubsport, and Golf R performance models, permits a continuously adjustable lowering of 45 to 60 millimeters or 30 to 45 millimeters, depending on the Golf model.

Customers can also optionally customize their coilover suspension with colored springs, personalized lettering, and additional springs with different spring rates.

With the ability to adjust the dampers separately in the rebound, low-speed, and high-speed compression, the XTA Plus 3 coilover suspension kit can be adjusted with 16 clicks for comfort or handling bias. The result is sharper responses and tauter body control without compromising comfort.

Along with the new product release, KW has showcased a Golf R that is lowered on the XTA Plus 3 coilover suspension kit. With an aggressive stance, all it needs is a nice set of aftermarket wheels to go with that hunkered down looks.
