SPY: 2021 Mercedes-AMG E63 makes an early appearance

Just six days after Mercedes-Benz gave us a preview of the facelifted 2020 E-Class range, an undisguised example has been snapped in what appears to be the skunk works of the company.

And to make things even more interesting, the rectangular quad exhaust tips tells us the model is likely the high-performance Mercedes-AMG E63 (or E63 S).

We also know now that the facelifted model will feature new horizontal taillights similar to those found on the new Mercedes-Benz CLA. The new wider taillights along with the chrome number plate garnish now make the facelifted E-Class appear wider at the back compare to the outgoing model.

It’s hard to tell from the spy image what wheel designs the new E63 is wearing but it’s safe to assume a fresh set of boots is in order.

Underneath the bonnet, expect the mighty twin-turbo V8 to undergo a workout to churn out even more power. Australia is set to continue to receive only the full fat E63 S, which is currently rated at 480kW/850Nm for a 0-100km/h sprint of 3.4 seconds.
