Fernando Alonso track tests the LaFerrari [video]

Before heading for Budapest for the Hungarian Grand Prix, Ferrari driver and Formula One World Champion Fernando Alonso had a go in a LaFerrari prototype, the most powerful and quickest car ever produced by the Italian firm.

Looking focused but composed throughout the hot lap, Alonso brought the hybrid supercar around the Ferrari test circuit in Maranello in a fast and neat lap.

At the heart of the LaFerrari is a 6.3-litre V12 engine paired with an electric motor. Combined, the supercar produces a total output of 708 kW (963 Hp). A seven-speed dual clutch transmission sends power to the rear wheels. 0-100 kph in the LaFerrari takes less than 3 seconds, 0-200 kph is achieved in under 7 seconds and 0-300 kph needs just 15 seconds! Top speed stands at 350 kph.

Making full use of Ferrari’s F1 expertise, the LaFerrari features the HY-KERS systems which harvests the high levels of torque available at low revs from the electric motor to optimise the engine’s performance at higher revs, thus providing unending power throughout the rev range and a maximum torque peak of over 900 Nm.

Along with his team-mate Felipe Massa, the Spaniard has been involved in various development of the LaFerrari and has contributed valuable insights to the team of engineers through numerous track tests.
