Citroën DS2 reportedly joining expanded DS lineup in 2014

Citroën is planning to expand its DS range even further with a new report indicating an entry-level DS2 which will sit below the company’s DS3 model.

Set to debut at next year’s Paris Motor Show, the new model is said to be a five-door hatchback based on the underpinnings of the Peugeot 208. That means it’s likely to be closely related to the 208 GTi, featuring a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine developing up to 147kW of power.

According to Auto Bild, the DS2’s styling will be inspired by the REVOLTe concept (shown here) which made its debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show.

As Citroën will be targeting ‘lifestyle’ vehicle buyers like the MINI and Fiat 500, the DS2 will be offered with an abundance of customisation options. A roll top version that will revive the classic 2 CV is also under consideration.
