Skoda has unleashed its most powerful Octavia RS to date in Australia, the RS 230. Packing 169kW and a tweaked styling, the RS 230 rolls into showrooms priced from $41,490 plus on-road costs for the 6-speed manual sedan.
Utilising the same 169kW/350Nm turbocharged 2.0-litre direct-injected four-cylinder petrol engine and electronic front limited slip differential as the Volkswagen Golf GTI Performance, the front-wheel drive RS 230 is claimed to dash from 0-100km/h in 6.7 seconds, three-tenth slower than its VW cousin.
The RS 230 is available exclusively as a 6-speed manual in both sedan and wagon body styles.
Drivers can customise their vehicle’s handling characteristics via the standard Driving Mode Selection. The four driving modes (Normal, Sport, Eco and Individual) each optimise features to their corresponding driving styles.
Aesthetically, the RS 230 is differentiated via its gloss black 19” ‘Xtreme’ alloy wheels, door mirrors, front grille, rear spoiler and exhaust pipes – the latter two which are exclusive to the RS 230.
Inside, the instruments cluster gets a lap timer function, while the electric seats with driver’s memory are upholstered in black leather with red stitching. Its 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel is wrapped in perforated leather with red stitching and a bespoke RS plague. Other sporty touches include RS inscriptions in the door sill strips and stainless steel pedals.
Standard features include Adaptive Cruise Control, an 8-inch Columbus touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation and Smartlink (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto) connectivity.
Options include a Tech Pack which brings Auto Park Assist, Lane Assist, keyless entry and start and a 10-speakers Premium German Canton sound system.
