Skoda is said to be considering introducing more vRS variants to their range, including the Superb and even the Kodiaq SUV.

At the moment, if you are looking for a vRS model, Skoda has only one to offer – the Octavia vRS.

Speaking to AutoExpress in the UK, Skoda boss, Bernhard Maier, said there is “serious potential” for vRS variants of Skoda’s largest models, as more buyers are opting for the range-topping variants of the new Superb and Octavia.

“It is under discussion. Larger models have more potential to add value and vRS could be a part of this. It’s not a question of the engineering; we can do it, but we need to establish a business case first,” he told AutoExpress.

However, Maier has ruled out the return of the Fabia vRS hot hatch, saying there aren’t enough margins in that model.

If the Superb vRS were to go ahead, it would need to be even more powerful than the range-topping 206kW 206TSI 4×4. The Audi S3’s 210kW turbocharged 2.0-litre drivetrain could be a possibility, with a small power boost to differentiate the two models.
