Fernando Alonso takes the LaFerrari out for a spin [video]

Double Formula One World Champion Fernando Alonso is back at Ferrari’s headquarters in Maranello, Italy to test out the new LaFerrari hybrid supercar.

Taking the opportunity of a 3-week break in the 2013 Formula One calendar before the next race in China, The Ferrari driver is seen in the video driving the LaFerrari around the company’s test track.

At the heart of Ferrari’s latest supercar is a 6.3-litre V12 engine paired with an electric motor. Combined, the LaFerrari produces a total output of 708 kW (963 Hp). A seven-speed dual clutch transmission sends power to the rear wheels. 0-100 kph in the LaFerrari takes less than 3 seconds, 0-200 kph is achieved in under 7 seconds and 0-300 kph needs just 15 seconds! Top speed stands at 350 kph.

Alonso helped fine tune the LaFarrari’s driving position, handling and control locations. The car was recently unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.

“I am always happy to spend a few days in Maranello. Apart from working on the car and being in close contact with the team, sometimes I am able to see some of the production departments which are the heart of the company. This time I met up with people who are never in the limelight, but they have an incredible love for their work,” said Alonso.
