All-new Ford Fiesta ST confirmed for Australia in 2019

Ford Australia has confirmed the Fiesta ST hot hatch will go on sale in Australia in Q2 of 2019, featuring a more powerful EcoBoost engine, a manual transmission as well as advanced chassis tech.

“There is a strong appetite and passion for the Fiesta ST in our line-up, and can see the affinity and esteem that Australians have with driving enjoyment of the existing model,” said Ford Australia President and CEO, Graeme Whickman.

“Fiesta ST shows the depth of enthusiast models that we’re bringing to Australia, with everything from this hot hatch through to the Ranger Raptor.”

The next generation Fiesta ST is the most compact model in the Ford Performance line-up. Built in Germany and based on the seventh-generation Fiesta, the 2019 Fiesta ST is powered by a 147kW/290Nm 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbocharged engine from Ford’s award-and race-winning EcoBoost engine line-up, matched exclusively to a six-speed manual transmission.

The new model features faster steering, selectable driving modes and even a launch control system, while overseas market Fiesta ST will also get an optional LSD from the Focus RS, along with active exhausts, although it remains to be seen whether any of these will make it to the Australian model.

Ford will provide full specifications closer to the car’s on-sale date in 2019.
