Ford Mustang Mach-E gets performance boost, range increase

The Ford Mustang Mach-E has been updated for 2025 with pricing revised once again across the range. Capitasing on the strong momentum of EV sales in Australia, the updated Mustang Mach-E is boosting its appeal with enhanced performance, greater efficiency, and refreshed styling.

Available for order now, the Mustang Mach-E continues to be offered in three flavours: the rear-wheel drive Select, the extended-range rear-wheel drive Premium, and the high-performance flagship all-wheel drive GT. Unlike previous price reduction, new pricing across the three models has increased slightly by $1000 for the Select and $500 for the Premium and GT.

Ford Mustang Mach-E pricing (excluding on-roads):

Mustang Mach-E Select: $65,990
Mustang Mach-E Premium: $80,490
Mustang Mach-E GT: $98,490

The range-topping dual-motor Mustang Mach-E GT receives a substantial performance boost, with total system output increasing to 434kW (up from 358kW) and torque climbing to an impressive 955Nm (up from 860Nm). This power is complemented by an increased in driving range, now up to 515km measured using the WLTP cycle (up from 490km).

The entry-level Select model also gets a power increase to 212kW and 525Nm of torque (up from 198kW and 430Nm respectively). The mid-spec Premium model’s power output is unchanged at 216kW while torque has risen to 525Nm (up from 430Nm). Both Select and Premium models are good for a WLTP range of 470km and 600km respectively, the same as before. The lithium-ion battery composition and chemistry also remain intact for each variant.

Additionally, charging times have improved for both the Premium and GT, dropping from an estimated 45 minutes to 36 minutes to recharge from 10% to 80% when using a 150kW DC fast charger.

A key enhancement across the entire lineup is the addition of a new heat pump, designed to improve the vehicle’s energy efficiency while heating or cooling the cabin.

Both Select and Premium variants benefit from new suspension hardware and tuning that aims to provide a more comfortable ride without losing the Mach-E’s sporting feel. For 2025 the non-GT models feature updated sway bars, springs and dampers.

The 2025 Mustang Mach-E also introduces several design and feature updates both inside and out:

  • Updated Wheel Designs: All models in the range will sport new alloy wheel designs.
  • Refined Exterior Styling: The Premium series now features Matte Black lower front, rear, and side bumper cladding, with wheel arch mouldings changing from gloss black to body colour. The GT model boasts a refreshed grille design.
  • Streamlined Interior: A new column-mounted monostable shifter replaces the previous rotary gear dial, creating more space in the centre console for enhanced storage options.
  • Improved Seating Comfort: Front row seats have been upgraded to offer 10-way power adjustment, replacing the previous 8-way configuration.
  • Unified Headlamp Design: The Select series now comes standard with the same projector beam headlamps as the Premium and GT models, ensuring consistent lighting performance across the lineup.
  • For the new model year, customers can choose from a total of eight paint options, including six new colours: Eruption Green, Molten Magenta, Terrain, Velocity Blue, Glacier Grey, and Grabber Yellow. Shadow Black continues as the no-cost exterior colour option, while prestige paint is available for $700.
