Mercedes-AMG has announced the first technical details of the brand’s potent AMG GT R, ahead of the car’s official debut in Goodwood.
Featuring a tweaked version of the GT S’s 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, the engine now packs 430kW and 700Nm torque in the GT R, up from 375kW and 650Nm.
Thanks to the extra oomph, the GT R is 0.2 seconds quicker to 100km/h, taking just 3.6 seconds, while top speed has also increased to 318km/h, up by 8km/h.
Along with the more powerful engine, Mercedes also promises chassis improvements, with bigger brakes, sharper steering and tauter suspension, not to mention a more aggressive body kit that has been aerodynamically optimised.
The car will wear an exclusive shade of dark green dubbed ‘AMG Green Hell Magno’ matched with a set of fresh alloy wheels.
The Mercedes-AMG GT R will make its debut on June 24.
