Mercedes A45 AMG beats CLS63 AMG in 1/4 mile

We have always known the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG is a special car, and now we know for sure, thanks to the guys at British publication, Auto Express. They pitted the hot-hatch against its bigger brother, the more powerful CLS63 AMG Shooting Brake, and guess what? The A45 AMG beat it in the standard quarter mile!

Not a bad accomplishment considering the A45 AMG’s 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine is playing against the CLS’ 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8. That’s 265kW against 386kW!

However, the A45’s trump cards are its considerably lower weight, lightning fast dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive system, all working to ensure it hits the quarter mile two-tenths faster than the chubbier CLS63.

The result will please Mercedes-Benz in their quest for younger buyers for the A45 AMG. In Australia, the hot-hatch will be priced from $74,900 when it goes on sale in September.
