Lexus teases refreshed IS sedan ahead of Beijing debut

Lexus is set to unveil the updated 2016 IS sedan at the Beijing Motor Show next week.

The announcement is accompanied by a shadowed teaser image of the midsize luxury sport sedan, giving a glimpse of the facelifted model’s redesigned headlights and front bumper.

The new headlights ditch the current curvy lenses for a straighter design. Behind the new lense is the restyled light cluster with new triple L motif LED lights. The brand’s signature L-shaped daytime running lights have also been revised.

While no further details have been released, Lexus claims the refreshed IS will bring “exciting breakthroughs based on the Lexus signature L-finesse design philosophy” and that the rejuvenated exterior will “ignite people’s desire to put their hands on the steering wheel”.

The third generation Lexus IS sedan has been on the market since 2013 and this update represents a mid-life facelift. The current range consists of the IS 200t, IS 300h and IS 350 variants.
