Jeep Cherokee range gets new turbodiesel model

The all-new Jeep Cherokee Limited, powered by the efficient 2.0-

The all-new Jeep Cherokee line-up has been further strengthened by the arrival of the new Limited Diesel. The 2.0-litre turbodiesel model joins the 2.4-litre four-cylinder and 3.2-litre V6 petrol engine, offering the best fuel economy in the range without compromising on power.

The new diesel now sits at the top of the range with a sticker price of $49,000 plus on-roads. The 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine delivers 125kW of power and 350Nm of torque and is equipped with automatic Stop/Start technology that helps keep fuel consumption to a frugal 5.8-litres per hundred kilometres.

The engine is paired with the segment’s first nine-speed automatic transmission. A new rear axle disconnect function activates when four-wheel-drive capability is not required, reducing energy loss and improving fuel efficiency.

Standard on the new Jeep Cherokee Limited Diesel is the much touted Active Drive II off-road system, which features a two-speed power transfer unit with torque management and low range unique to the diesel powertrain.

The Limited Diesel also features 18-inch aluminum wheels, leather upholstery with heated front seats, Uconnect 8.4-inch touchscreen with navigation, front and rear parking sensors with reversing camera and an Alpine nine-speaker surround sound system all as standard.

Standard safety features include seven airbags (front seats multistage air bags, side bags, window bags, driver side knee air bag), ESC (Electronic Stability Control) with ERM (rollover mitigation) and ABS (anti-lock brake system) with both on-road and off-road calibration.

Those seeking for maximum protection can opt for extra safety feature options for the new Cherokee Diesel including new systems such as the innovative Forward Collision Warning-Plus, ParkSense Parallel/Perpendicular Park Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control-Plus, Lane Departure Warning-Plus, Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path Detection.
