Rumours have been circulating for a while but it seems Ford has admitted they are working on its first-ever Fiesta RS hot hatch that will sit at the pointy end of the range.
Details are scarce at the moment, but when asked about a hotter Fiesta at the new ST’s global launch recently, Ford Performance Europe chief, Leo Roeks replied with a broad grin: “I can’t tell you, but I’m very busy”.
It is too early to speculate on the Fiesta RS’ power and drivetrain but it’s safe to assume a hike in power compared to the ST’s 147kW/290Nm turbocharged 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine.
Besides the RS, it is understood the company is also working on a twin-clutch transmission for the ST, both of which are not expected to arrive until at least mid-2019.
