BMW 530d is the new NSW Police Highway Patrol car

Following last year’s partnership with Victoria Police, BMW Australia has further extended its relationship with Australian law enforcement agencies with the supply of authority specification BMW 530ds to the New South Wales Police Force.

The 5 Series sedans will be supplied in a specific Police specification and will come fitted as standard with the M Sport Package for enhanced dynamics, as well as the M Sport Brake system for additional stopping power. To ensure police remain supported during service, multi-adjustable Comfort seats will also be fitted.

Popular options, such as a sun roof, will be excluded, enabling the 530d to be specified with additional authority-specification equipment (such as lighting and sirens) as dictated by service requirements.

The 530d is powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine producing outputs of 195kW and 620Nm. Power is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission enabling a zero to 100km/h sprint time of 5.7 seconds. Fuel consumption is rated at 4.7L/100km.

“Globally, the BMW Group supplies emergency and authority vehicles to a large number of countries, so I am very pleased to see our brand continue this proud tradition in Australia,” said BMW Group Australia CEO, Marc Werner.

“We are honoured by our association with the New South Wales Police Force and delighted that our officers will be driving BMW’s safe, efficient and dynamically superior vehicles.”

BMW provides specialised vehicles to authorities across four continents, including countries such as Germany, the UK, Switzerland, Italy and Hong Kong. These vehicles range from standard passenger vehicles to specially designed and modified emergency or security vehicles.
