Ford has added the rear-wheel drive Everest Trend variant to the 2017 Ford Everest range.
Priced from $55,990 plus on-roads, the RWD Everest Trend is $5,000 less than the four-wheel drive variant and comes with the same 3.2-litre TDCi engine mated with a 6-speed automatic transmission generating 143kW of power and 470Nm of torque. Towing capacity remains unchanged at 3,000kg.
The model also comes with the latest infotainment system with Ford’s SYNC3, boasting conversational voice recognition, faster performance, a new 8-inch touchscreen with smartphone-like ‘pinch and swipe’ capability, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The 2017 Escape will arrive in showrooms alongside the Everest RWD with improved fuel efficiency for the 2.0-litre EcoBoost models and driver assistance technologies.
When compared with the Ford Kuga, the Escape has a sharper pricing of $28,490 plus on-roads for the entry level Ambiente model, with a front-wheel drive 1.5-litre Trend model broadening appeal with increased standard features.
