Hot on the heels of the BMW 4 Series Coupé, BMW Australia has today announced the pricing and specification for the BMW 4 Series Convertible (Read ForceGT‘s review here). Available in 420d, 428i and 435i at launch, the convertible is equipped with a three-piece retractable hardtop that can be opened in just 20 seconds at speeds of up to 18km/h, and includes an easy-loading function for convenient access to the boot.

The new roof also promises to reduce interior noise level and ambience, with a new, more noise absorbent headliner that also includes interior lighting features to bring it more in line with the fixed top Coupé variants.

Priced from $88,800 plus on-road costs – $17,000 more than the equivalent coupé, the range kicks off with the 420d Convertible. Powered by a BMW TwinPower turbo four-cylinder diesel engine, it develops 135kW of power and 380Nm of torque, enabling the open top to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 8.2 seconds while consuming just 4.8L/100km and emitting 127g of CO2 per km.

The $97,500 428i Convertible features a TwinPower 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 180kW of power and 350Nm of torque, enough to propel the car from 0-100km/h in 6.4 seconds. It consumes 6.7L/100km of fuel on the combined cycle.

Like the 4 Series Coupé, the Convertible is married to an eight-speed sport automatic transmission. Each BMW 4 Series Convertible is equipped with Auto Stop/Start, Brake Energy Regeneration, ECO PRO mode and on-demand ancillaries such as electric power steering.
