Maserati has announced details of its MY17 Quattroporte which goes on sale now with deliveries starting at the end of the year.

Boasting a mild mid-life facelift both inside and out, the updated model arrives in two variants – the GranLusso and the GranSport.

The exterior of the restyled Quattroporte is recognisable with a new bumper design with matte black profile at the front and the matte black extractor at the rear. The front grille evolves into a design inspired by the Maserati Alfieri concept car and already featured on the Maserati Levante SUV.

Its more defined shape introduces new vertical chrome elements that contrast with the depth of the shark nose effect. Other distinguishing details of the new Quattroporte are the matte black side skirts and the exterior mirrors, which have been slightly restyled to incorporate new technical features.

An electrically adjustable Air Shutter has also been fitted behind the front grille between the air vents and the engine’s radiator. The Air Shutter provides optimal control of the engine’s temperature and, together with the optimization of the new front and rear bumpers, air conveyor and flat bottom, is said to improve the aerodynamic drag of the car by 10 per cent, contributing to a fuel consumption reduction of about three per cent while driving on the highway.

The GranLusso is equipped with 20-inch Mercurio rims and black painted brake calipers, while the GranSport is fitted with 21-inch Titano rims and features red brake calipers.

The improvements to the interior enhance the purity of the model by underlining only the functional parts with the integration of the new design with the infotainment area and tunnel console. The redesigned central dashboard now accommodates a capacitive high resolution 8.4” screen with multi touch function.

The sweeping centre console now integrates the screen, new climate control and new drawer in a single seamless design.

The central lower console has also been redesigned and now features a rotary knob for volume and function control, a new lid and phone storage compartment.

The new infotainment system is compatible with both the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring functions.

All Quattroportes are now equipped with an Air Quality Sensor, a feature that is claimed to substantially improves comfort levels for the occupants on-board. This system combines an intelligent sensor and a signal analysis system that calculates the external pollution levels and prevents polluted air and toxic gases from entering the cabin.

A new package of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems is standard in the new Quattroporte. It includes Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop&Go, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning with Advanced Brake Assist and Automated Emergency Braking. A new Surround View Camera compliments the reversing camera which has been improved with dynamic guidance lines on the screen.

The GranLusso and GranSport are offered in Australia with a choice of two drivetrains, starting with the new enhanced 261kW (350 bhp) Twin Turbo V6, as well as the 306kW (410 bhp) Twin Turbo V6 and the range topping GTS, with its 395kW (530 bhp) Twin Turbo V8 engine.
