Volkswagen has reportedly approved the Golf R400 for series production. According to a report from Car Magazine in the United Kingdom, the mighty Golf R will have up to 420PS (309kW) and 450Nm and set to hit showrooms in 2015.

While not officially confirmed by Volkswagen, Car Magazine cited company insiders have revealed the production model will closely mimic the concept. The brakes will be updated to cope with the R400 high-output 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, but the track will remain unchanged from the Golf R.

The production Golf R400 will reported make it world debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2015 with first customer deliveries scheduled for late next year.

When it launches, the uber Golf is set to be the most powerful turbocharged four-cylinder hatch on the market, eclipsing the mental Mercedes A45 AMG which produces 260kW and 450Nm.
