Toyota 86 Black Limited pays homage to original AE86 Black

Toyota released the original AE86 Black Limited back in 1986 as the final edition model for the cult sports car. Based on the GT-Apex trim, the AE86 Black Limited came exclusively with a black exterior with matching bronze alloy wheels and bronze pinstripe.

For 2020 Toyota is once again celebrating the black-bronze themed 86 with the 86 Black Limited. Like the original special edition, the new limited-run 86 Black Limited is tweaked with 17-inch bronze wheels under which tuck red Brembo brake callipers and ventilated discs. A boot lid spoiler has been added, while handling is tightened with a set of SACHS dampers.

For the diehard enthusiasts, Toyota will optionally apply a bronze pinstripe as a visual nod to the original AE86 Black Edition.

The interior complements the black exterior with a bronze accented black trim which features a Black Limited logo on the dashboard. The perforated front seats come upholstered in a combination of leather and Alcantara, while a suede-like artificial leather has been applied onto the dashboard.

Production for the Black Limited will be capped at just 86 units, more exclusive than the original car’s 400 allocation. All models will be exclusively sold in its native market of Japan, with the production split evenly between manual and automatic models.
