Lexus has been speculated to be mulling around with a hardcore version of the RC F sports coupe with two turbochargers strapped onto the standard car’s 5.0-litre V8. According to MotorTrend the twin-turbo RC F could possibly see the light of day in 2017, bringing over 600 horsepower (448 kW) to the table.

The super RC F is said to be getting a new badge called “RC FS”, with “FS” becoming Lexus’ answer to Mercedes AMG’s Black Series and Audi’s RS Plus. Apart from taking the competition to the German front, the RC FS is also set to fight off the Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge, if the rival premium Japanese make greenlights it for production.

The twin-turbo 5.0-litre V8 will also find its way under the bonnet of the upcoming Lexus LF-LC production car, long rumored to be the new Lexus SC when it rolls out of the factory in 2016. The boosted V8 will power the topspec SC F variant, leaving the standard V8 and V8 hybrid for the non F models.

The company has yet to release specific performance figures, but confirmed that the RC F Coupé’s 5.0-litre V8 produces “well above 330kW (450hp) of power and 520Nm of torque” that could enable it to accelerate from 0-100km/h in under 4.5 seconds and en route to a top speed of 300km/h (186mph).
