Infiniti’s four-door coupé realistically imagined

Infiniti four-door coupe render

It has been rumoured recently that Infiniti is planning to add a four-door coupé to their lineup to compete with the Mercedes-Benz CLS and BMW 6 Series Gran Coupé. Although the new flagship is not expected before 2017, it doesn’t stop Theophilus Chin from imagining it.

According to Nissan, the four-door coupé will be based on the Essense Concept that made its public debut at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show. It is part of the company’s grand plan to be a major global premium brand by 2020.

The range-topper is expected to ride on Mercedes-Benz’s versatile MRA platform (modular rear-drive architecture). It is too early to speculate on the car’s drivetrain. However, the concept was powered by a hybrid drivetrain made up of a 3.7-litre twin-turbo V6 and an electric motor producing a combined output of 441kW (600PS).
