Gallery: Toyota GT86 “TRD Performance”

First displayed at the 2012 Tokyo Auto Salon in January, Toyota Racing Development (TRD) is inching closer to bringing the pumped up version of Toyota’s latest sports car to showrooms.

The Toyota GT86 “TRD Performance” was a headline act at the Tokyo Auto Salon. No surprise as the TRD GT86 makes the standard GT86 look rather ‘pedestrian’ with a host of new aerodynamic bits including new front and rear bumper, carbon fiber front strut and rear diffuser. Finished in an impressive shade of Satin White Pearl, the GT86 also comes fitted with ultra-aggressive quad exhaust tips at the rear and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Handling is improved through a reworked suspension incorporating new front and rear anti-roll bars. The car is also fitted with a set of high performance TRD brakes and slotted disc. Unfortunately, performance modifications end here as the 2.0 liter 200 horsepower engine is left intact. This is a bit of a shame as the GT86 could benefit from a bit more power from the boxer engine.
