Someone at Mercedes was apparently too eager to share images of its new Maybach-branded concept ahead of the car’s official debut on April 25 at the Auto China Beijing. Published by CarNewsChina, these official images shows the new Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury, a SUV that looks more like a high-riding sedan.
Featuring a bold new grille first seen on the facelifted Mercedes-Maybach S-Class and the long-wheelbase Pullman, the concept is reportedly a fully electric vehicle, with power drawn from a large 80 kWh battery pack installed underneath the floor.
It powers four electric motors the pumps out 551kW, with enough electrons for a 500km range based on the outgoing New European Driving Cycle (NEDC), meaning significantly less in real life.
The concept is reportedly a preview of Maybach’s take on the next-generation GLS, it is unclear whether Maybach will adopt a completely redesigned sheet metal based on the concept, or bling up the GLS like what it does to the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class.
