Confirmed: Mitsubishi Evolution will be back!… as an SUV

We have known for a while the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution will not have a direct successor, with the company sending off its cult sports car with the Evolution Final Edition in 2015.

However, the popular nameplate will make a comeback – in the form of a SUV. This was confirmed by Mitsubishi boss, Trevor Mann who revealed a performance car is on the agenda. He also admitted the new EVO would not necessarily be based on a sedan, giving the greatest indication the next EVO could be a SUV.

Don’t expect it in the near future, though, as Mann went on to clarify it would be at least six years before the fast SUV hits the market.

What do you think? Should the legendary Evolution badge adorn an SUV?
