BMW M135i hot hatch available in Australia now

The new BMW M135i 5-door hatch is now on sale in Australia. The range topping 1-Series will arrive in showrooms in October, priced from A$68,400.

The M135i is the latest in BMW Australia’s M Performance range, joining the BMW X5 M50d and BMW X6 M50d tri-turbo SUVs. It is powered by a 3.0-litre straight six-cylinder engine with TwinScroll turbocharger that generates 235kW of power and 450Nm of torque between 1,250 and 5,000rpm.

Teamed with a 6-speed manual gearbox, it sprints from 0 to 100km/h in 5.1 seconds and on to an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h. An 8-speed automatic is optionally available and cuts the dash from 0 – 100km/h to 4.9 seconds.

Average fuel consumption for the manual is rated at 8.0l/100km, and the CO2 emissions are 188g/km. These figures are reduced to 7.5l/100km and 175g/km respectively for the automatic.

The list of standard features are high for a BMW and include M Sport Brake System, full M aerodynamic exterior body package, anthracite individual roof liner, door sills with M designation, Dakota leather upholstery on the standard Sport Seats, M leather steering wheel and 18-inch M Double Spoke alloy wheels shot in 225/40R18 tyres at the front and 245/35R18 at the rear.

On top of that, buyers of the BMW M135i also get Bi-Xenon headlights and Bluetooth with voice control.
