Bentley SUV given green light for production in 2016

Bentley has officially confirmed that its first SUV, previewed by the Bentley EXP 9 F concept early last year, has been given the green light for production.

“The SUV will be a thoroughbred Bentley true to the brand hallmarks of luxury, performance, quality and craftsmanship,” said Bentley in a statement. The company adds that its styling will set it apart from any other SUV in the market.

Like the rest of the Bentley range, the SUV will be built at the company’s manufacturing facility in Crewe, UK. The Volkswagen owned British marque is set to invest more than £800 million over the next three years in the UK and create over 1,000 jobs.

“The Volkswagen Group believes in the UK as a competitive location for industrial production. Bentley fans all around the world are looking forward to the brand’s first SUV. Together we will make this new Bentley another true Bentley – powerful, exclusive and successful,” said Volkswagen Group chairman, Dr Martin Winterkorn.

Bentley’s new SUV is expected to hit the market in 2016 and will likely share its platform with the upcoming Lamborghini Urus, also owned by the Volkswagen Group.
