2018 Volkswagen Arteon bows in at Geneva Show

The all-new 2018 Volkswagen Arteon has made its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show after a series of leaked images.

Based on VW’s modular MQB platform, the VW CC replacement will be positioned above the Passat as the brand’s passenger range halo model.

Described as a premium Gran Turismo model, the car measures 4,862mm long, 1,871mm wide and 1,427mm tall and sits on a 2,841mm wheelbase. At the front, the Arteon sports an oversized grille and distinctive LED headlights, while the rear end is now a liftback like the Audi A7.

It will be offered initially with six petrol and diesel engines. On the petrol front it ranges from a 110kW 1.5-litre TSI petrol to a 2.0-litre TSI in two states of tune – 140kW and 206kW.

The diesel range includes the 2.0-litre TDI offered in 110kW, 140kW and range topping 177kW.

The base petrol engine along with the 110kW and 140kW diesel models are paired with a six-speed manual as standard, while the rest gets a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The more powerful petrol and diesel variants will also be offered with all-wheel drive only.

Inside, the dashboard is shared with the Passat but jazzed up to reflect its premium status. Features include the Active Info Display, infotainment systems with screen size from 6.5 and 9.2-inches and ambient lighting.

VW says the Arteon offers the best in class rear seat legroom, with the rear bench able to accommodate three, with the two outer seats getting the ergonomic character of individual seats.

There’s also a host of driving assistance systems, including the latest generation adaptive cruise control, Emergency Assist, Lane Assist, Proactive occupant protection and so on.
