Manhart adds 100 ponies to Toyota GR Supra

BMW tuning specialist Manhart is expert in making cars like the Z4 and M3 go faster, but it has never touched a Supra, until now.

The current generation Z4 has a twin from Japan and it’s the Toyota GR Supra. Both cars not only share the same chassis but also the engine and transmission. This means Manhart is now able to apply the same tweaks for the Z4 to the Supra.

And that’s exactly what the German tuner has done. Called the Manhart GR 450, the power upgrade package raises the output of the BMW-sourced 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six engine to an impressive 450hp (335kW) of power and 650Nm of torque, up from the standard 340hp (254kW) and 500Nm of torque.

The power hike is courtesy of a MHtronik Powerbox ECU remap and an upgraded exhaust system with stainless steel rear silencer with valve control.

Complementing the boosted performance, the Supra gains lowering H&R springs, though a KW Variant 3 coilover suspension is also available. The wheels have also been upgraded to 20-inch all round, an inch larger than the factory’s 19-inch. The Concave One rim is available in glossy black or matt black, wrapped in 265/30 ZR20 and 285/30 ZR20 tyres.
