APR unveils steaming hot 394kW Volkswagen Golf R RLMS

After teasing us with a shadowy outline of the car, APR has finally unleashed what it describes as ‘the ultimate touring car-inspired’ Volkswagen Golf R at the SEMA Show, the Golf R “RLMS”

Featuring the tuner’s potent Stage 3+ turbocharger kit, the super Golf R now pumps out a monstrous 394kW of power from its 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, channeled to the ground via APR’s two-piece wheels with Toyo tyres.

To match the extra muscle, the tuner has also dressed the hatch up with an aggressive widebody kit for an almost DTM look.

Inside, the track-ready RLMS is fitted with custom racing seat with OMP racing harness as well as a roll cage. The door cards have also been reupholstered with a suede lining complete with ‘R’ motives. For added safety, it is also equipped with a fire extinguisher.

The current-generation Golf R is nearing retirement with the next generation model already under development. It will reportedly continue to feature a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder mill but supplemented by a 48-volt mild hybrid. The setup is said to push the output to around 298kW, a significant jump from today’s 213kW.
