New 2012 Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series Coupé Exposed!

The most ballistic C-Class has been let loose, ahead of its official debut! These photographs, snapped at the Paul Ricard test circuit in the south of France, has leaked onto the most dangerous media of the modern age, the internet!

What you see here is the upcoming C63 AMG Black Series Coupé. It is essentially a replacement for the stupendously quick CLK63 AMG Black Series, and is the 4th edition of Mercedes’ in your face Black Series line-up. The others being the aforementioned CLK63 AMG Black Series, the SLK55 AMG Black Series from 2007 and the SL65 AMG Black Series from 2008.

In true Black Series tradition, the C63 AMG Black differentiates itself from its humbler siblings by bespoke body panels, including the trademark flared wheel-arches to accommodate fat sticky rubbers. It has been reported the car is also 20kg slimmer than the standard C63 AMG’s kerb weight.

The C63 AMG Black is powered by the now ubiquitous AMG built 6.2-litre naturally aspirated V8 with 510bhp (380kW) – 30bhp (22kW) more than the standard car. Torque is quoted at 640Nm, enough to propel the two door coupé from 0 – 100km/h (0 – 62mph) in just over 4 seconds and on to a electronically limited top speed of 250km/h.

To handle that sort of performance, engineers have lowered and tightened the suspensions. The car is also endowed with bigger brakes and a rear limited slip differential to aid handling.

Inside, there is a pair of body hugging race bucket seats complete with race harnesses. The dash though is similar to the C63 AMG.

There is as yet no official word on pricing but we can confirm that the C63 AMG Black Series will not be a limited edition like previous iterations. There will be no cap to its production run.
