Mugen Tweaks Honda CR-Z Hybrid Sport Hatch

When the Honda CR-Z Hybrid Sport Hatch was launched, critics were quick to realize that the power figure of the successor to the CR-X just doesn’t match up to its strikingly sporty looks. With a combined power of 124 horsepower, it is certainly not enough to make it a performance oriented hot hatch, despite its light weight.

Well, good news. Honda’s performance tuning arm, Mugen is set to unveil a tweaked version of the CR-Z that the company says will give Type-R like performance. The Mugen tuned CR-Z Hybrid will be unveiled at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed in July.

Mugen has been tight lipped about performance figures and exact details about the new car. But expect the usual goodies such as a retuned ECU, improved intake and exhaust system, sports suspension and improved brakes. The Mugen CR-Z also features a striking body kit with larger wheels to fill up the arches. Carbon fiber materials are on the menu so expect the new car to be much lighter than the standard CR-Z.
