Mitsubishi ASX line up gets new 4WD Diesel Auto

Mitsubishi has announced the addition of a new 4WD diesel automatic to the popular ASX crossover line up. The new ASX diesel features Mitsubishi’s new 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine producing 110kW of power and 360Nm of torque, 60Nm more than the current 1.8-litre turbo diesel ASX. The engine is mated a six-speed automatic transmission with Sport Mode.

Like the current 1.8-litre 4WD diesel ASX, the new 2.2-litre 4WD diesel is available in two specification levels, an entry level model and a premium Aspire variant.

“The ASX is a popular vehicle in the Australian market and we are confident the addition of this economical diesel automatic model will appeal to customers who want a versatile and stylish compact SUV that sports all the features and is value for money.” Oshikiri said.

The new diesel engine incorporates an innovative shift schedule, INVECS-II Smart Logic which optimises gear selection in response to driving conditions. It returns a frugal 5.8l/100km combined fuel economy.

The ASX 4WD diesel automatic is fitted with a rear-view camera with parking reference lines as standard for both the base and Aspire 4WD ASX diesel automatic. The reversing camera image is displayed in the 6.1” QVGA full colour touch screen integrated into Mitsubishi’s LINK audio system that offers AM/FM radio, CD/MP3 player, auxiliary and USB inputs with full iPod control, voice control and full Bluetooth® 2.0 connectivity for media streaming and hands-free phone use.

The Aspire model gains the Mitsubishi Multi Communication System (MMCS) as standard, utilising a larger 7” colour touchscreen and adds satellite navigation with 3D mapping functionality and SD Card input. Also standard on the Aspire model are Leather seat trim, Smart Key entry with a one touch start system, automatic rain sensing wipers, automatic dusk sensing headlights, power driver’s seat with the front row receiving heated seats and a panoramic roof with LED lighting strip.

The entry level ASX sports 16” ten-spoke alloy wheels, body colour door handles and door mirrors with an integrated turn indicator and a rear roof spoiler with a high mount stop lamp. The Aspire receives 17” ten-spoke alloy wheels, front fog lamps with a chrome lamp bezel, a chrome exhaust tip and privacy glass.
