Ford officially unveils new Ford Everest

Ford has taken the covers off its new Australian-designed and developed Ford Everest today in Bangkok, Thailand. Featuring a bold design and advanced technology, the new Everest is said to redefine the Southeast Asian SUV market.

“With the new Ford Everest, we’re further strengthening our showroom lineup across ASEAN markets with a fully capable and competitive premium SUV that works equally well as a comfortable and refined family vehicle or taking on the roughest terrains of Southeast Asia,” said Matt Bradley, president, Ford ASEAN.

“It’s a completely new vehicle inside and out with a host of first-in-class features, providing unmatched value in its segment.”

Built on the Ford Ranger’s platform, the Everest will be one of the toughest SUV in its segment, with a true body-on-frame design. together with an intelligent four-wheel drive system, an active transfer case with Torque on Demand, Terrain Management System, 225mm of ground clearance and water-wading capability of 800mm.

Inside, the car features Ford’s latest generation SYNC 2 that lets drivers use natural voice commands to control the car’s entertainment system, climate controls and connected mobile devices. It also boasts an 8-inch touchscreen with 10-speaker sound system complete with an integrated subwoofer, Active Noise Cancelling in the cabin and Active Park Assist – a first in Thailand.

Other segment-first technologies include Curve Control, designed drivers maintain control when approaching turns too quickly, and Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Alert.

Power comes from a 3.2-litre Duratorq five-cylinder TDCi diesel with 147kW and 470Nm of torque, or a 2.2-litre Duratorq four-cylinder TDCi diesel with 118kW and 385Nm.

The new Ford Everest will be manufactured at Ford’s plant in Thailand. It will arrive in Australia later this year, with pricing and specification announced closer to launch.
