According to a recent report from Autobild, the often rumoured BMW M8 has finally been given the go ahead and scheduled to be launch in 2016.

The car will likely be based on the i8 and comes with a twin-turbocharged V8 engine from the BMW M5 that generates 441kW (600 HP). A hybrid engine may also be on the cards. Building on the i8’s lightweight underpinnings means the M8 could tip the scale at less than 1500kg.

Information is still scarce at this stage, but BMW’s new sports car could blitz the 0-100km/h dash in around 3 seconds before hitting a top speed of approximately 322km/h.
