Bentley teases first ever SUV – launches in 2016

New Bentley SUV teaser

The teasing has started for Bentley’s first SUV, which is slated to hit showrooms in 2016. The singular image shows the front end of the luxury SUV and looks significantly different to the controversial EXP-9 concept (below) study on which it is based.

Like the rest of the Bentley range, the SUV sports a pair of twin round headlights with the brand’s stately grille sandwiched in between.

According to Bentley CEO, Dr Wolfgang Schreiber, the Bentley SUV “will be the most luxurious and powerful SUV on the market,” setting it apart from other SUV. It will possess the brand’s hallmarks of luxury, performance, quality and craftsmanship. He also said that the new model “will create a completely new segment in the SUV market.”

Not much else has been released at this stage but the model is likely to use Bentley’s 6.0-litre W12 engine that is found in the Continental GT.

The luxury marque forecasts it will sell a minimum of 3,000 units of the new SUV, with the company already invested £800 million in new facilities and model development in the next three years.
