Audi S3 Cabriolet arrives, priced from $69,300

The Audi A3 Cabriolet has received the S treatment with the launch of the first S3 Cabriolet. Priced from $69,300, the S model is $7,100 more expensive than the S3 sedan on which it is based.

It gets the same potent 2.0-litre TFSI engine delivering 210kW of power (up marginally from 206kW for 2015 models) and 380Nm of torque as the S3 Sportback and Sedan, and is mated to a six-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission powering all four wheels.

The S3 Cabriolet takes 5.5 seconds to hit 100km/h from rest, 5.0 seconds adrift of its lighter siblings, while fuel economy is rated at 7.1L/100km.

In the S3 Cabriolet, a new active rollover protection system protects occupants in the event of a rollover. All variants of the new Audi A3 have been awarded the maximum 5-star ANCAP safety rating.
