The new Alfa builds on the already popular 4C and combines race-inspired performance and stunning design with an open-air cockpit.

The Spider comes from the humble city of Modena in Italy; it features a seductive Italian style, Formula 1-inspired carbon fibre monocoque chassis and advanced running gear including a 1.7-litre turbocharged engine, dual intercoolers and variable valve timing (VVT). The engine produces an amazing 177kW and 350Nm of torque; thanks to its mid-engined layout and focus on lightweight performance the spider can achieve a 0-100km/h time of just 4.5 seconds with a top speed of 257km/h.

Alfa pairs the 4C spider’s engine to their twin-clutch transmission which is tuned specifically for the vehicle. With its DNA selector system the Alfa’s TCT gearshifts are designed to become aggressive while Dynamic or race modes are selected. Gear changes are made via shift paddles allowing the driver to transition between gears as quick as 130-milliseconds at full throttle.

In line with the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider’s ultra-lightweight design and desire for maximum agility and road feel, the conventional power steering system is removed altogether. Through a manual steering system and 15.7:1 quick-ratio steering, the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider provides the driver with maximum feel-of-the-road. Furthermore, an appropriate steering-wheel load is maintained thanks to the low overall weight of the car.

The Alfa Romeo 4C Spider’s brake system is designed for track use, where decisive braking even under the most intensive conditions is required. To deliver maximum stopping power and 1.25g of braking deceleration, this Alfa Romeo is equipped with four self-ventilating perforated discs and Brembo four-piston aluminium calipers at the front axle.

Customers can choose from an array of exterior colors including Rosso Alfa, Black, White, Basalt Grey Metallic, Rosso Competizione Tri-coat, Madreperla White Tri-coat and new to this model an all-new Giallo which is italian for yellow.

Further complementing the 4C Spider’s exterior are a choice of four all-new wheel designs including staggered fit 17 x 7.0-inch (front) and 18 x 8.0-inch (rear) alloy wheels in Silver or Dark finish. For a more aggressive look customers can upgrade to the larger 18 x 7.0-inch (front) and wider 19 x 8.5-inch (rear) forged wheels.

The Alfa Romeo 4C Spider is available now and is priced at just $99,000 excluding on-roads.
