600kW E-Legend EL1 is an electric hommage to the Audi Sport Quattro

The Audi Sport Quattro S1 was one of the most revered models from Audi of all time and still the most powerful rally car ever built. It was also the first rally car to effectively and reliably employ all-wheel drive, which paved the way for its application on Audi road cars today.

Many a hommage models have also been built subsequently, the latest being the E-Legend EL1. Conceived as an all-electric hommage to the iconic model, it is powered by three electric motors, one at the front axle and two at the rear for a combined output of 600kW (804hp/816 PS).

Feeding the three motors is a 90kWh battery pack that uses the same 800-volt technology as the Porsche Taycan.

E-Legend says the EL1 is capable of blasting from 0-100km/h in an electrifying 2.8 seconds and 200km/h in less than 10 seconds. Cruising range is rated at 400km, which should be enough for the EL1 to complete two laps around the Nurburgring in the most aggressive SportPlus mode. The EV also features torque vectoring for improved handling.

In terms of styling, the EL1 is clearly inspired by the Audi Sport Quattro S1, with squared off front and rear end, along with a bulging bonnet with three small slits. The flared wheel arches and white five-spoke wheels with single wheel nuts further are also a nod to the legendary S1.

It’s much more futuristic inside, however, with at least four high-resolution screens in the cockpit, including two dedicated to the digital wing mirrors.

E-Legend says just 30 units are destined to be built, with each carrying an eye-watering €1 million (A$1,577,204) price tag.
