Audi has officially unveiled its facelifted 2015 Q3 SUV. So, what new? Well, the makeover is subtle to say the least, with the biggest change coming from an enlarged grille with horizontal elements that now join with the new optional LED headlights. It is inspired by the Audi Crosslane Coupe concept that made its debut at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.

At the other end, the rear fascia remains relatively unchanged except for a pair of refreshed LED taillights and slightly made over rear bumper.

The car’s turn signals are now lit up sequentially, in the direction of the turn, similar to that on the latest A8 flagship.

There are two distinct trim lines – design and sport. Customers can of course specify various optional packages such as S Line pack to add a dash of excitement to the otherwise stoic design.

As for its power plants, there are six engines available – three TFSI petrol and three TDI diesel, all turbocharged and produces up to 17 percent less CO2 than the superseded models. All engines are Euro 6-compliant with displacement ranging from 1.4 to 2.0 litres providing 88kW (120HP) to 162kW (220HP) of power.

Sitting at the pointy end of the range is the RS Q3 that is propelled by its 2.5-litre turbocharged five-cylinder petrol engine. It now churns out an extra 22kW and 30Nm, for a total output of 250kW (340HP) and 450Nm channelled to a quattro AWD system via a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission (now with a new hydraulic mult-plate clutch).

The setup enables the RS Q3 to dash from 0-100km/h in 4.8 seconds, down from 5.5 seconds. Besides the boost in power, Audi has also endowed the hotted up Q3 with an RS exhaust system featuring switchable flaps to provide a more rousing soundtrack.

The car rolls on massive 19- or 20-inch alloy wheels behind which hides similarly massive brakes. The front rotors are flanked by eight-piston callipers, which now weighs a full 1kg lighter than before, thanks to its new wave design.

The 2015 Audi Q3 range will arrive early next year with pricing and specifications announced closer to launch.
