2014 Honda Jazz/Fit officially unveiled

The all-new 2014 Honda Jazz/Fit has been officially unveiled. The new design is more angular with bolder front and rear bumpers, all contribute to its more futuristic look.

The new Honda Jazz/Fit is powered by a new four-cylinder 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle engine paired with a high output electric motor and lithium-ion battery. Power is sent to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The new model adopts regenerative braking technology that harvests and stores energy during braking. There is also a fully electric compressor that reduces engine load. Combined, the 2014 Honda Jazz/Fit Hybrid achieves a fuel economy of just 2.7-litres /100 km, the most efficient among all small hybrid vehicles currently in production.

The new hybrid drive system, called the SPORT HYBRID i-DCD (Intelligent Dual Clutch Drive), is around 35% more efficient than the IMA (Integrated Motor Assist) hybrid system currently used in Honda’s hybrid models. The lightweight and compact one-motor hybrid system will be rolled out to all future Honda small-sized vehicles.

The new Jazz/Fit features three driving modes – EV, Hybrid and Engine. In EV mode the Jazz/Fit runs solely on electric propulsion, giving a guilt-free, zero-emission driving.

The 2014 Honda Jazz/Fit goes on sale in Japan this September with Australian launch expected in early 2014.
