2.0 TFSI AWD Audi Q2 joins local range in February 2018

2017 Audi Q2 2.0 TFSI quattro sport completes the Audi Q2 line-up in Australia.

A range-topping Audi Q2 packing a 140kW/320Nm 2.0-litre TFSI engine and Quattro all-wheel drive system has joined the small SUV range priced from $48,500.

Promising a 0-100km/h spring of 6.5 seconds, while returning a claimed 6.5L/100km, Audi says excellent power, torque and fuel consumption figures are courtesy of an innovative combustion method. It allows shorter compression and longer expansion phases, which delivers maximum economy under partial throttle load, by far the most common mode of operation.

The shortened compression phase means the engine only has to compress as much fuel as a 1.4 TFSI. Whereas in the expansion phase, it profits from a higher compression ratio to fully utilises its two litres of displacement.

In order for the fuel-air mixture to swirl sufficiently in the shorter intake time, the combustion chambers, piston recesses, intake ducts and turbocharging of the new 2.0 TFSI are specially adapted to the new combustion method. Under higher loads, the Audi valvelift system opens the intake valves later, resulting in a higher charge, which ensures good power and torque delivery.

The Q2 is equipped with progressive steering, quattro all-wheel drive and McPherson front- and four-link rear-suspension, along with an ESC Offroad mode and 147mm of ground clearance.

It has been awarded a five-star Euro NCAP and ANCAP safety rating, and comes equipped with Audi pre sense city (AEB) system which recognises critical situations with other vehicles, as well as pedestrians crossing in front of the vehicle at speeds of up to 65 km/h. If necessary, Audi pre sense city can initiate hard braking – to a standstill – at low speeds.

In addition, the $990 Assistance package features an extensive range of driver support systems like a higher level of AEB functionality (up to 200 km/h), active lane assist, side assist, Adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go, Traffic jam assist, high beam assist and park assist amongst others.

As befitting its range-topping status, the 2.0 TFSI quattro sport is equipped with a generous array of standard features including LED headlights (with dynamic rear indicators), MMI Navigation, bluetooth and smartphone interface, Audi Connect, voice control and parking system plus with rear view camera. An electric tailgate, sport seats, automatic air-conditioning with dual-zone climate control, leather-appointed seats, auto-dimming interior mirror, a contrasting C-pillar blade and 18-inch alloy wheels round out the key highlights. The progressive Audi virtual cockpit is available as an option.
