Bavarian-based motorsport specialist Tuningwerk GmbH has introduced their latest project – a track-honed BMW M235i coupe.

The flagship model in the BMW 2 Series range (until the M2 coupe comes along) has been given an aerodynamic makeover with a custom designed front lip spoiler, rear diffuser and rear spoiler, all made from carbon fibre.

Inside, the M235i sports Recaro seats for the front occupants, sports steering wheel with shift lights, and extensive carbon fibre trim. For the hardcore enthusiast, a roll cage and six-point seat harnessess can also be specified.

New engine mapping for the 3.0-litre TwinPower Turbo in-line six engine, coupled with an aluminium oil pan and stainless steel sports exhaust system, mean the M235i now sends 326kW of power and 600Nm of torque to the rear wheels – an increase of 86kW and 150Nm over the factory figures.

With a six-speed manual transmission and a single mass flywheel with sports clutch, the Tuningwerk M235i sprints from zero to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds. Shedding speed as fast as it gains them is a set of uprated front disc brakes with six piston calipers and an optimised DSC/ABS controller.

To keep handling in check, the M235i is lowered on KW adjustable coilovers. Rolling stock is provided by a set of forged steel rims measuring 8.5×18” with 235/40R18 rubber up front and 9×18” wrapped in 265/35R18 tyres at the rear.
