Conversion: Nissan 350Z to Porsche Panamera Convertible

Porsche just never stops making waves of news around the globe. Few days ago we showed you the spied pictures of the upcoming Porsche 911 and Boxter, and then now the Porsche Panamera Convertible. Or is it?

Well it is a Panamera Convertible, but it is not Porsche. Eh?

What you are looking at here is a Nissan 350Z that has been converted into the world’s first Porsche Panamera Convertible. You might remember seeing this car at the our 2011 Tokyo Auto Salon coverage few weeks ago. Yes this is the same car that made everyone scratch their heads at the show. And we think it certainly deserves more attention.

The car first started its life as a regular black 350Z convertible. Then it received a numerous cosmetics mods including vinyls all over the body, which we think is completely unnecessary on a car like the 350Z.

Fortunately the owner decided to give the Nissan a complete makeover. And when it comes to complete makeover what’s better than a full exterior conversion?

The approach is to transform the 350Z into the world’s first Porsche Panamera Convertible. The conversion was done at BodyShop Kikuta, a renown workshop in Japan specializing in customized bodykits and conversions. The bodykit chosen for the project is made by FairDesign. However the kit is made for the actual Porsche Panamera. So the folks at BodyShop Kikuta had to alter the kit to fit the 350Z, along with tons of other Panamera body panels.

The end result is nothing short of spectacular. It makes us think that Porsche should have stayed away from the 4-door saloon game and use the Panamera design for a convertible. It just shows how much more  the Panamera design is suited to a coupe/convertible body than a saloon.

All we can say is BodyShop Kikuta has done one heck of a job in this conversion. The best thing is the folding soft top still works! Check out the rest of the pictures below.
