Volkswagen preparing Golf GTI Club Sport?

According to our friends at Worldcarfans, Volkswagen is allegedly preparing a Golf GTI Club Sport after a red GTI wearing the previous-generation R’s 19-inch wheels and an enlarged ‘prototype’ spoiler were spotted on the Nürburgring.

The car had Wiechers Sport stickers on its rear quarters and was caught attempting to make “a secret run on the last lap of the day.” The car was accompanied by two Volkswagen support vehicles.

It is unclear at this stage what the power output of the hot hatch will be, but it is safe to assume the 2.0-litre turbocharged four will get a power boost compared to the Golf GTI Performance, which has 169kW and 350Nm.

Speculation is that the car will debut at the 2014 Wörthersee Show as the Golf GTI Club Sport. Stay tuned.
