Volkswagen Mk7 Golf GTI UK pricing announced – from £25,845

Volkswagen in the UK has announced the pricing for latest Mk7 Golf GTI. The new car will be priced just £195 more than its predecessor, at £25,845 for the ‘standard’ 3-door GTI. The slightly more powerful 3-door GTI Performance model will cost £26,825 – just an extra £980.

Both hot-hatches are propelled by VW’s latest 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, with the GTI getting 162kW/350Nm, while the GTI Performance gets 169kW/350Nm. Volkswagen claims the GTI will sprint from 0-100km/h in 6.5 seconds, with the GTI Performance shaving an additional 0.1 seconds of this time.

In the UK, both GTIs feature 18-inch ‘Austin’ alloy wheels, ‘Jacara’ tartan upholstery, bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights and twin exhausts with a rear diffuser. Optional equipment includes a six-speed DSG transmission, Adaptive Chassis Control, high-beam assist, leather seats and 19-inch ‘Santiago’ wheels.

The Mk7 Golf GTI is expected to arrive in Australia in the last quarter of 2013, with pricing and specifications to be announced closer to launch.
