Volkswagen Amarok R-Style concept at Wörthersee

The first official photos of Volkswagen Amarok R-Style concept have been revealed. The hotted up ute will be making an appearance at the annual Wörthersee car fest in Austria.

Unlike the Amarok you can buy at your Volkswagen dealer which comes with a range of four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, the Amarok R-Style is powered by a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 diesel delivering 200kW of power and 600Nm of torque.

The engine is connected to an 8-speed automatic transmission that transfers power to a permanent all-wheel drive system. Volkswagen claims the two-door ute is capable of sprinting from 0-100km/h in 7.9 seconds.

The new found strength is matched in appearance by a muscular body that includes chunky wheel arches and side sills, a restyled front bumper, new headlight design that includes an LED ring around the outer edge, smaller carbon-look door mirrors, and the obligatory manhole-sized alloy wheels.

Volkswagen’s designers have also fettled with the interior with a pair of sports bucket seats, carbon fibre style dashboard and door trims, a sports steering wheel pinched from the Mk7 Golf GTI and red accents to spice things up.
