Video: Audi R8 e-tron completes Nürburgring laptime in 8:09.099

The new Audi R8 e-tron is now in its final stages of development and Audi has unleashed the all electric car at the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Driven by Markus Wankelhock, the supercar completed the demanding course in just 8:09.099 minutes – the quickest laptime achieved by any production electric vehicle.

The R8 e-tron is propelled by two electric motors that generate 230kW (308hp/313PS) and 820Nm (605 lb-ft) of torque. They draw power from a 49kWh lithium-ion battery that allows the electric R8 to travel up to 215km (134 miles) on a single charge.

It will blitz 0-100km/h in 4.6 seconds and hit the inevitable limited top speed of 200km/h (124mph).

The Audi R8 e-tron is scheduled to go on sale later this year.
